Doubts about the leaked pictures of the rumoured iPhone 4G have been quashed by Gizmodo. Not only have they confirmed the picture, earlier published on Engadget, they've actually got their hands on a "lost and found" unit and disassembled it. According to this article the new phone, which looks less rounded than the 3GS, includes front-facing video chat camera, improved back camera with larger lens, camera flash, micro-SIM instead of standard SIM, improved display, split buttons for volume plus metallic power, mute and volume buttons.

Gallery_iphone6In addition, says Gizmodo, the back is entirely flat, made of either glass or ceramic or shiny plastic to improve wireless reception, with an aluminium border going completely round the outside of the phone, and a slightly smaller screen than the 3Gs. It is 3g heavier than the existing model but has a 16% larger battery.

John Gruber of Daring Fireball (see earlier post today) says that Apple has indeed lost a prototype iPhone and they want it back. Apple (if it is Apple) had remotely killed the phone before Gizmodo got their hands on it.

Earlier today I published an article on the micro SIM and I am gratified to find confirmation of my argument. With a micro-SIM in the new iPhone the smaller SIM card is set to become the de facto standard within twelve months. Everyone else will follow. The networks will be forced to offer micro-SIM alternatives to existing customers (probably with a small fee) and, of course, Novatel will soon have a MiFi to take the new standard. Happy days.
