Kindle: iPad app is now available globally

Amazon announced this morning that the Kindle App for iPhone is now available in all countries where the iPad is on sale. The app features Whispersync which saves and synchonises last page read, bookmarks, notes and highlights across Kindle, Kindle DX, iPhone, iPod touch, Mac, iPad, PC and other platforms. It is the first truly universal application that gives book readers the opportunity to access their library on almost any electronic device.

The new iPad app makes full use of the large screen and offers animated page turns which are missing from the otherwise-excellent iPhone app. Users can choose colour of background, size of type and can brighten or dim the screen from within the application without having to go to Settings. The application is free from the AppStore and gives access to over 550,000 books.
