OmniFocus: Download themes galore
When you buy OmniFocus for Mac you get a very nice, simple and clean user interface. It's a good start, but experienced users know they can customise the appearance, from font size and style to background colour, from within the Preferences/Style tab. Almost every aspect of the appearance can be changed, including row spacing, child spacing and, even, the size of indents. It's a veritable fiddler's delight but if you are not careful you can end up with a hotchpotch of design inconsistencies. That's where the Theme facility comes it. You can save your adjustments at any stage and give the theme a name in case you want to go back. Of more interest, though, is the ability to download and install custom themes that others with a far greater flair for design have published.
There is a trove of theme treasure for download at OmniFocus Themes. All you have to do is download the theme, put it in your ~/Library/Application Support/OmniFocus/Themes folder (1). Then open Omni, go to Preferences and load the new theme (the theme actions are accessed via the tiny cogwheel icon in the bottom left-hand corner of the Perspectives/Style pane).
Currently I'm using Shawn Blanc's simplistic theme which I really like. You can download it from his site here. Have a look and see what you think.
(1) If you like making small adjustments to your themes you will soon have different versions on your various Macs. I've overcome this by storing the OmniFocus themes on Dropbox so they are identical on all my computers. To make this work you need to create a symbolic link from the Themes folder in Dropbox back to the ~/Library/Application Support/OmniFocus/Themes folder. To do this see my post on Dropbox and symbolic links.
