Adobe comes up with solution to iPad video problems
Adobe this week talked about provide streaming video on the iPad by adding support for Apple's HTTP Live Streaming standard to their Flash Media Server product. According to Kevin Towes, product manager for Adobe Flash Media Server, the company "is reducing the publishing complexity for broadcasters who need to reach browsers supporting HLS through HTML5 (such as Safari) or devices where Adobe Flash is not installed."
I'm not sure what this means for iOS media consumers in the short term, but it's welcome news that Adobe have decided to take the heat out of the long-running difference of opinion between the two companies. Cynics would argue that the lack of Flash hasn't stopped the onward march of iPad sales, so a compromise is necessary.
