Fuji X-E1 with Leica lenses: Update

Posted on by Mike Evans

My early November review of the Fuji X-E1 camera working with Leica lenses has been a bit of a hit and was reproduced in full, with my permission, here on Since then I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience of mounting Leica lenses on the extraordinarily impressive Fuji. Today I added a recent and rather unusual shot. You wouldn't normally choose a manual focus lens for fast moving subjects, especially not for unpredictable wildlife, but I decided to try a new technique: Focus first and wait for the bird to fly more or less into focus. This shot is a 100% crop from a much bigger frame. With the 50mm Summicron mounted, the focal length becomes a moderate telephoto 75mm. The lens was set to f/2.8 and the speed to 1/2000 sec. I processed it in black and white using Silver Efex Pro.
