1951: How Alan Turing predicted Siri
Back in 1951, father of the computer, British mathematician Alan Turing, predicted Siri:
One day, ladies will be walking their computers in the park and saying, ‘do you know, my little computer said such a funny thing to me this morning!’
Turing was a genius and a visionary who foresaw the present digital world. To modern minds he is up there with Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein and Charles Darwin among the scientific greats. Sadly, his talents were under appreciated and he was hounded to his death because of his homosexuality.
While on this subject, a new book by George Dyson, Turing’s Cathedral: The Origins of the Digital Universe is published early next month. The Kindle edition costs £14.99 in the UK.
