Mountain Lion will kill iTunes
By dismembering iTunes, Apple can create further consistency between OS X and iOS and simplify the media storage and consumption process all at one time. There is no confusion about where your media is stored and it finally allows iTunes to die in a peaceful and well respected manner. For the past decade, iTunes has slowly grown larger and larger and - aside from the Finder - has been the one thing that I hear most people saying needs to change on the Mac. Here is Apple’s chance. Mountain Lion is foreshadowing the ultimate demise of iTunes as we know it and I, for one, couldn’t be happier.
