Why Siri didn't make it to the new iPad

Many of us were surprised that Siri didn't make it to the iPad. Cult of Mac comes up with an interesting assessment of the situation and a couple of good reasons for Siri's absence. The main one, which is pretty obvious when you think about it, is that Siri needs internet. It works reasonably well on the iPhone because all iPhones have a SIM card. Wifi-only iPads would enjoy the full gamut of Siri's ministrations only when connected to the interweb. Another theory is that the sometimes patchy performance of Siri is linked to system overload: the addition of millions of iPads in short shrift could be the final straw on the camel's back.
