Linus of Linux inside my TiVo box etc etc
Linus Torvalds, the man behind Linux, has won this year’s Millenium Technology Prize which will be presented in Finland on June 13. This interview with Torvalds appeared last week in TechCrunch and is well worth reading.
Because of Torvald’s decision to make Linux open source, the OS has benefited from no fewer than 73,000 man-years of free development. It lurks everywhere, often without you knowing it:
Today millions (of) computers, smartphones and digital video recorders like Tivo run on Linux. Linus Torvalds’ achievements have had a great impact on shared software development, networking and the openness of the web, making it accessible for millions, if not billions.
