Back to back at the Memorial to the Unknown Soldier in Athens today: Copyright MacFilos.comGreeks are turning their backs on the technology as the crisis forces them to cancel broadband and mobile phone contracts. A new Eurobarometer report, published yesterday, shows a sudden drop in connectivity in Greek households.

The report, covered in detail by the Greek national newspaper, Kathimerini, this morning, shows an eight percent drop in PC penetration to take Greece to last-but-one spot in Europe, just ahead of Bulgaria. Internet connectivity in Greece is now the lowest in Europe, with only 42 percent of households able to go online.

Greeks, though, love their mobile phones and are turning increasingly to pay-as-you-go contracts even though the monthly deal is becoming too expensive.
