Leica in Beijing: Packing the one camera
What to pack for a week of street photography in China's capital? I had intended to try out the new Sony A7r but that would have meant packing at least a couple of lenses. That problem was solved when Sony failed to deliver in time for the Beijing flight. So I decided to rely on the Leica X-Vario which I am putting through its paces for a future review. It is compact and has just the one modest 28-70mm zoom, so no lenses to add. One concern with the X-Vario is the rather slow (f/3.5-6.4) lens and I did wonder how it would perform in night shots and indoors. As an all-round camera the X-Vario is proving impressive. The slowness of the lens is compensated for to some extent by a good performance at higher ISO (which I limited to 6400).
