Buy a new Leica M-P and get £500 trade-in allowance
An old DSLR, sans lens, will pay a big dividend of £500 if you buy one of Leica's new flagship M-P models before the end of November. And you have until the end of the year to claim the cash. You will need to buy from an authorised Leica dealer and offer up your old camera.
As I have already emphasised, the M-P is currently a better buy than the standard M because of the improvements, including reinstatement of the frameline lever, a sapphire glass screen, a bigger 2GB buffer and discreet branding. The removal of the front M and Leica dot, to be replaced by the traditional Leica engraving on the top plate, is the key to value. When you come to resell an M-P version in a few years' time you will be guaranteed a better price. M9-Ps are currently trading at up to £1,000 more than the more humble M9, although this is no guarantee of future performance.
If you are in the market for an M, therefore, this deal on the M-P makes a lot of sense. I am currently testing the M-P and, while the performance and general feel is identical to that of the M, the sense of occasion and ownership is definitely enhanced. it is the one Leica fans will want in the future.
From personal experience I can recommend two excellent London dealers with oodles of personal service and attention to detail:
