Leica Copies: Left-handed camera anyone?
As a right hooker I have often wondered how left-handed people manage with cameras that are always made with the important bits under the right hand. Would be a market for a camera specifically designed for left-handers?
William Fagan has reminded me that there is such a camera in the Westlicht Auction which takes place on June 11. It looks just like an early Leica but as seen through a mirror. Yet it isn’t a Leica, it is a Russian copy, apparently made in the 1980s. It even has a low serial number, 11.
William is following the progress of this camera which had an estimated value of between €500 and €700. Already, a week before the auction it has topped €750.
So if you fancy a left-hooker 1930 Leica copy, complete with reversed infinity lock hockey stick and left-hand shutter release, here’s your chance.
