Leica V-Lux Explorer Kit — welcomed by explorers everywhere
Although I've not owned the Leica V-Lux (one of the few current Leicas other than the S that I haven't used extensively), I've had a great respect for its versatility and performance ever since I reviewed the camera in 2014. Image quality belies the relatively small one-inch sensor and the 25-400mm zoom range turns this into a compact, friendly and uncomplaining travel companion. I know several Leica fans who swear by the V-Lux, including Red Dot Cameras' Ivor Cooper and talented street photographer David Lewis Baker. I've been tempted myself, but somehow just never got round to it.
Perhaps, then, this new Explorer Kit will change my mind. Leica pitches the V-Lux at travellers and wildlife/sports photographers and the new set includes some extra goodies to speed these enthusiasts on their way. In addition to the camera, you get an ONA black-nylon Bowery system bag and a red Leica rope strap, designed by COOPH. Made from climbing rope material, the strap will be welcomed by explorers everywhere. Just the job in emergency. The V-Lux Explorer edition, which comes in a nice box, can be ordered from Red Dot Cameras and other Leica dealers. The price will be £1.110, including VAT (the camera alone sells for £940 so it's a good deal).
